It all started sixteen years ago with “polymer-based mosaic”, a self-developed innovation for surface material. Eight years later, SONITE upcycled rice husk waste into mosaic material. Then, we saw the potential for this material to be used in home decor and set out to develop it further. And then, along came SONITE Decor.

What sets SONITE Decor apart is its commitment to sustainability. We start by sourcing natural waste from local communities and providing extra income. The waste is transformed into sustainable composite materials, which are used to create beautiful and functional home decor. But it’s not just about upcycling; we also make a conscious effort to reduce their carbon footprint during production.
3. Our innovative design philosophy: “Form is as important as aesthetics and functions.”
Our design team has developed three collections: Husk Decor, made from rice husks, Cocco Decor, made from coconut fiber, and Talay, made from ocean plastics. Each collection reduces plastic waste by up to 40% while offering vibrant, warm, cool, and personalized color options.

We offer consultation services to businesses looking to create eco-friendly products from their own waste materials. We worked with SMILEYHOUND to create an artificial marble tabletop from discarded plastic buttons, and with Wonderfruit festival for the “Wonder Cup”.
5. From Thailand to the World: SONITE Decor won numerous innovation and design awards.
Our work has been noticeable at both national and international levels. At the national level, we won Thailand Green Design Award for Green Innovation and the DEmark Good Design Award. For global, we were awarded the Good Design Award from Japan, and the DFA Design for Asia Award from Hong Kong. This festival highlights the essence of sustainable living through music, art, food, and wellness in the area of over 80 acres where festivalgoers can spend four days in the field to connect with their own self, people, and nature.
Wonderfruit takes sustainability seriously. They took a simple and bold step In 2019 when the festival banned single-use plastic cups. Cups are the most common waste in The Fields, even if they are biodegradable ones. As if reducing total waste is not to create waste, Wonderfruit announced “Bring your own up or buy one from us.” – Wonder Cup is the cup they choose.
Wonder Cup is a sustainable cup made from upcycled rice husk or coconut fibers that are durable, reusable, and withstand both hot and cold drinks. It is designed to be easy to hold, a perfect size for your hand, and available in customized that fit the vibes. The truth is not always beautiful, especially when our beautiful world is at risk. Climate Change significantly poses an adverse impact on Thailand more than we think. The 101 World, a media and research hub, predicts that Thailand is expected to face extreme heat, short winter, and heavy rain if climate inaction still exists. The loss of agricultural products could reach a maximum of 84 billion Thai baht per year. This warns farmers and workers in Thai agriculture to adapt to the challenges. Their lives are in peril.
Nature is a treasure, and that’s the additional source of income in their reach. SONITE sees the potential value of discarded natural materials such as rice husks. We take a stand, purchase theleftover rice husk directly from farmers, and find creative solutions to upcycle the trash to treasured products and surfaces.
